Obituary for Linda Kaiye

Linda Kaye (Brady) Kaiye of Norman was born in Longview, Texas on August 13, 1945 to Lester Bardell and Maxine (Bell) Brady. She passed at the age of 73 on April 23, 2019.

Linda had a heart of gold, and she never met a stranger; she loved to talk to people. Linda had a beautiful soul that touched the lives of everyone she encountered in a unique and sparkling way. She spent the majority of her life in Norman, Oklahoma, where she raised her family. For almost 20 years she lived in Bedford, Texas teaching in the HEB School District as a pre-K teacher for special needs students. Linda was a lifelong learner. She would read anything she could get her hands on, and at the age of 40 she earned her degree in Communications from the University of Oklahoma. Linda spent the last 1-1⁄2 years in Cincinnati with her niece with whom she shared a special friendship.

Linda prided herself on having a very active lifestyle. She quite enjoyed exercising and could frequently be found working in the yard or her garden. She had a very green thumb and cultivated thriving gardens of flowers and vegetables. Linda was an avid Oklahoma City Thunder fan and would watch as many games as she could, both in person and on television. She was also a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma Sooners sports teams. Linda was a member of the Keller Women’s Group in Keller, Texas, and she volunteered at the AT&T Byron Nelson Golf Tournament. Recently Linda graduated from the Norman Citizens’ Police Academy. She was an excellent cook and was known for her lasagna.

Family was everything to Linda. She doted on her great-granddaughters and she cherished the time spent living with her children in Norman. She adored the children she taught, considering them part of her family as well, as evidenced by the numerous statements on Facebook from her students and their parents remarking on the lifelong impact she had on their lives.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Maxine Brady, as well as her children’s father, Robert Ridner. She is survived by son Robbe Ridner and wife Kim; daughter Shanna K Ridner; son Jason Turney and wife Michelle; grandson Robin Ridner and wife Michelle; great-granddaughter Summer Sandoval-Ridner; great-granddaughters Amelia and Harper Ridner; husband Marrk Morgan of Bedford TX; sister Karen Jolly and husband Willis; niece Kelly Johnson; numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends; and beloved dog Sage.

Contributions in Linda’s memory may be made to the Oklahoma Autism Center (www.autismcenterok.org/donate).
